Order Assembly is a semi-automatic dry cleaning assembly system whose product relegates an opening to each request. Loading and unloading are performed manually: the operator scans the bar code applied to the garment, the terminal then displays the slot number for the order that garment is part of and the conveyor starts moving the slot until it is in front of the operator. Once the order is completed, the system prints a receipt. At this point, the operator removes the garments from the system, bags the order, and attaches the receipt to the package.

The system allows a saving of 8 hours, the equivalent of the time it takes one person to manually inspect, load, pick up, and bag 800-900 pieces. Moreover, the movement of the conveyor automates garment-slot pairing, thus reducing the possibility of human error.
